HH Color Lab and N-Vu Imaging sponsored a great workshop at Bourgmont Winery in Bucyrus, KS, to learn about the business side of wedding photography and the storytelling aspect of photographing the wedding day. My business, J Renee Photography goes to these events to keep up-to-date on the latest wedding trends for my clients. Renowned professional photographer Meredith Ryncarz lead the seminar with her vast knowledge about weddings and photography.

As a bonus to learning about creating wedding albums and storytelling images, we had a gorgeous styled shoot as well. Several vendors came together to create this fantastic photoshoot, and photographers from as far away as Aruba! I met several new friends and colleagues in the business.

My biggest job as a wedding photographer is to capture the wedding day’s story as it happens. A professional photographer knows that the images will tell the story of the day and treasure for years to come. In my line of business, this requires me to stay up to date with the latest trends and training. I decided to join the boot camp to improve my photographic style and business model. A stylized shoot will help you as a bride to make your vision come to life!

The Styled Shoot Begins!

I can honestly say I was in awe from the first day of the boot camp. I learned many things about how to design wedding albums better and capture storytelling images. On the day of the styled shoot, I was starstruck by the vendors’ hard work who came together, and I was excited to bring their vision to life with my portraits. Bourgmont Winery is a stunning venue, and when everything came together, it was gorgeous. Simply Elegance‘s Planner, Kindra did a fantastic job at putting the entire styled shoot together.

The dresses from The Gown Gallery were masterpieces, and they took my breath away with their beauty. The grooms were so handsome in their tuxes from Houndstooth. The models from Voices and Models did a great job modeling the wedding day attire and were very professional in their poses. They each had great chemistry that showcased well in the portraits. Bronzed and Blushed provided all of the hair and make-up for the models.

I started the day learning how to properly photograph detail shots for the bride, groom, and invitation suite from Studio Wren Co. Here’s some sneak peeks from the detail shots below! These are details you as the bride are going to spent a lot of time and money on, so they need documenting.

After lunch, I moved on to the food from Fiorella’s, cake from Take the Cake, and reception area. Ultra Prom had gorgeous pieces to decorate the spaces. The beautiful china from Good Stuff China and floral arrangements from Wild Hill Flowers are details the planner painstakingly created with a wedding stylist and deserved special attention to detail. I photographed the food for the chef, the place settings, table arrangements, cake, and more to capture all of the details of the wedding day. The florals from Wild Hill Flowers were beautiful, fresh, and so artistic.

These are all great additions to the wedding album to tell the wedding day story and the vendors too! Always make sure you take care of your vendors! I can not recommend both a planner and wedding stylist enough for your wedding day! They can bring your vision to life and create an elegant and beautiful setting for your reception.

From that point forward, I photographed the couples in their stunning wedding dresses and tuxes. The day was hot and beautiful outside of the winery. I had so many locations to photograph the three teams, including in front of Royals Royces from Coats Cars, in and around the Bourgmont Winery’s Vineyards, around the signage from Script Your Event KC and so many more places. You can see some of the images below! The results were nothing less than stunning.
